With you standing by her side, one inspiring PoM member has just received well-deserved recognition for her leadership and impact.
Mama Lita has been awarded the Gender Champion Award for her work in environmental action and plastic waste recycling. As a strong and dedicated PoM member, Mama Lita doesn’t just fight fires. She educates her community, protects the forest her family depends on, and inspires other women to step forward and lead.
The Gender Champion Award is formally recognised by the Social Services Office and the Office for Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Family Planning–an important acknowledgement of the powerful role women play in protecting Indonesia’s forests.

Our latest reports show something truly encouraging. Thanks to your support, PoM teams are seeing real changes in community behaviour, especially when it comes to land clearing.
Families are moving away from unsafe land burning, and adopting safer, forest-friendly methods. These are the exact practices PoM women share during their outreach, and it’s amazing to hear they’re being embraced.

Over the past few months alone, PoM teams have run 174 community events, speaking with local families about the dangers of forest and land fires, and the serious impacts they have on both the environment and human health.
And the feedback is clear: these sessions are working.
